She is willing to help out her team and anyone who ask. Kim has received a safe driving award every year. She always shows up to work when scheduled, ready, happy and makes sure her bus is safe for her and the riders.
What Motivates You As A Driver?
The community motivates me as a driver. I feel I’ve been put here for a purpose. I live in Tillsonburg, and I’ve gotten to know people as family, and family helps family. I help when and where I can.
How Do You Ensure Safety On The Bus?
I make sure I check that bus inside and out. I will even walk around the bus and up and down the aisle making sure there is nothing on the floor that is unsecure.
I take pride in the bus, making sure it’s swept daily and washed inside at least once or twice a week.
What Did You Do Before Becoming A Transit Driver?
I drove school bus for about 20 years before becoming a Transit Driver. Getting my bus license I’m proud of. Always wanted to do that as I had physical struggles through the years. Here I’ve been driving bus now since 1989. And I’m able to help the community where I live. I just finished driving one lady, that’s become a friend, back and forth to London on Saturdays for dialysis also for the last couple months. I was able to help her when she needed it. I love this job. Its not just about the work.
What Is Your Most Memorable Moment As A Transit Driver?
The most memorable moment is a man named Tim that rides the bus almost daily. He is part of the Community Living here in Tillsonburg. He trusts us and loves us so much. No matter how bad a day I’m having, Tim gets on, and he seems to know; he will tease and greet me like I’m his best friend. All the frustration just goes away. He is such a kind soul. Can’t help but have your heart softened.

I am part of a church in town. I have been recently a Praise and Worship leader, singing and playing guitar. Now I focus on my grandchildren, teaching them to be good and kind and taking them to church, spending time with them.
